Homophones are fun!

Today I made Homophones and that means words that sound the same but different spelling and mean different things. It is hard to say in real life when I was spelling it out.

  1. Kia ora Lily,

Great work on completing another Summer Learning Journey task! You’ve done so well. Homophones can be tricky, especially when both words are spelt so similar and some of the words might be words you’ve never heard before, like ‘flour’ and ‘flower’. Thyme is a herb that is used for cooking, but the ‘th-’ at the beginning of the word makes it sounds like the ‘th-’ for the word ‘three’, but it is a ‘t-’ sound. Very tricky! A roast could be cooked with ‘time’, but the correct answer was ‘thyme’.

Do you know any other homophones that are not on these lists of words? I am thinking of the words ‘sea’ and ‘see’ that sound the same, but have different spelling and completely different meanings. It’s quite cool!

    Ngā mihi,
    Simon (SLJ)
