Poetry Slam Rima – Awesome Alliterations

Today I did Alliterations at first I did not know what it meant but when I watched the video I knew exactly what to do. For X I did X-ray because last year I broke a bit of my bone and told by the X-ray and I had sugery for 2 hours. The only word that woke me up because the doctors said it but it was ice-block. And I had to have a thing on my hand for weeks.

  1. Kia ora Lily,

It’s Simon here from the Summer Learning Journey team. Great work on completing a Summer Learning Journey task! Ka pai!

I love that you gave this task a good shot! You have made some fantastic examples of alliteration. I really like what you have written for the letter ‘L’. It’s quite fun to say that one! I would say some of these might not be using alliteration though, like for the letters ‘C’, ‘F’, ‘G’, ‘U’, and ‘X’ because there are only one or two words that use the letters sound. ‘X’ is a really hard letter to create a sentence using alliteration for though! Here’s one for ‘X’ though – Xavier x-rayed xylophones. It’s quite a challenge to find words that begin with that letter and have the same beginning sound.

That’s no good to hear that you needed surgery. Did you break a bone in your hand? Hopefully you’ve recovered from it all now. I feel quite lucky because I have only ever broken my little toe.

    Ngā mihi,
    Simon (SLJ)

  2. Kia ora Lily. Phil here from the Poetry Slam team. I’m so impressed with how many poems you’ve entered! But most importantly I love the effort you’ve put into this one. Getting through the alphabet is an awesome achievement (another amazing alliteration). I like the way you’ve shared some of your thoughts around your choices too.

Do you think you’d be interested in performing your poem and sharing the recording? I’d love to hear your voice presenting your creation.
